Middle School Outreach

Ms. Gay P. Brasher is working with teachers in urban San Jose middle schools to develop a pilot program that introduces students to the basic concepts and practice of logical argumentation and verbal presentation.  One goal is to develop this program as a prototype that can easily be implemented in other middle schools, and we anticipate that students who are exposed to and develop enthusiasm for speech and debate in grades 6-8 will continue with the activity in high school. College level student assistants are needed for the 2007-2008 academic year to assist with the program. Get more information here.

Debate Education

We hope to provide educational debate materials and fund scholarships to debate camps and workshops for coaches and students.

Participation of financially disadvantaged:

We hope to support participation in debate activities for students which are currently excluded for financial reasons, by supporting, for example, school debate programs, meet fees, and transportation costs.
