...I hope that this organization will have the capability to sponsor and support the individuals who truly wish, but are economically powerless, to maximize their participation in debate...

---John McKay, founder

The mission of the Voices Foundation is to make high school debate accessible to everyone.  Through educational programs, outreach efforts to high schools and middle schools trying to start teams, and scholarships for summer camp, tournaments, travel, and coaching we hope to address the shortages of money, coaches, and administrative support that stand in the way of students' success. We invite you to browse our current and past projects.

2009 Voices Round Robin. The fifth annual Voices Foundation Round Robin in Lincoln-Douglas debate was held April 11 & 12th at Presentation High School, San Jose, CA.  Fourteen debaters participated in two days of debate which culminated in a final round between Mountain View High School’s Daniel Garber and St. Louis Park High School’s Catherine Tarsney. Complete results can be found on the VictoryBriefsDaily website. In addition, the four semifinalists participated in an experimental educational forum that explored fundamental issues in the LD debate community; Catherine Tarsney was crowned the first Voices Foundation Educational Forum Champion. A video of the forum will be posted soon. The Foundation is grateful to Tim Case for doing a tremendous job of organizing the event, to Sheila McKay for assisting with the organization and the event, to Presentation High School for making their facilities available, and to Nancy Brink of Present Tense Productions for the pro bono contribution of video recording and editing of the educational forum and final round.
