with

Judge Edward Richardson

Professor, University of Colorado School of Law

on the Jan-Feb 2011 LD topicIn the United States, juveniles charged with violent felonies ought to be treated as adults in the criminal justice system

High school speech and debate students and their parents are invited to a discussion on the topic with Judge Richardson, an expert in criminal and juvenile law.The forum will begin with two debaters presenting affirmative and negative cases with cross-examination by each other and by Judge Richardson.  This will lead to an open discussion where debaters may question Judge Richardson on the strengths and weaknesses of additional contentions, as well as on the intricacies of criminal and juvenile law.  It is an opportunity for students to benefit from the insights of an individual with years of in-depth real-world experience in this area.
